Glassware
& Dishes Packing
Glass items need extra care while
packing since these items are very
sensitive and if packed in a wrong
manner, it can result in a broken
item. To pack an glassware the material
used are: bubble sheet and/or newspaper
to pack individual item initially
and then put these into a suitable
box of either wood or metal. Fragile
(easily breakable) items such as
china, glass and ornaments are individually
wrapped in materials like "bubble
pack", acid free tissue paper
or white paper (depending on the
item) and then packed in double
wall export cartons.
Furniture Packing
For furniture, quilted moving blankets
are apt. Also, the furniture is
wrapped in paper pads to prevent
it from dust or light scratching.
For prevention against heavy scratching,
the furniture is wrapped in corrugated
sheets. The exposed legs (on tables
and chairs) are wrapped in bubble
wrap or newspaper.
Electronics
Items Packing
For computers, electronic and other
fragile products, it is best to
use anti-static bubble wrap and
packing peanuts. First the item
is carefully wrapped with the anti-static
bubble wrap and then taped. A portion
of the box that contains these items
is filled with packing peanuts.
Then the item(s) is placed in the
box (es) and toped off with the
remaining portion of the packing
peanuts (only electronics require
anti-static bubble wrap).
Packing
of Major Appliances
The owner's manual must be checked
for any special instructions before
the packing starts. Make sure the
inside and outside of all appliances
are clean. The inside of some appliances,
such as washing machines and dryers,
can be stuffed with towels or linens
and the parts that could come loose
should be taped down. The appliance
can be then wrapped with furniture
pads and tied securely.
Lamps and
Home Decoratives Packing
All the bulbs and shades are carefully
removed from the base unit and packed
in sturdy cartons labeled "fragile".
Items like wall hanging, artifacts
etc are wrapped individually with
bubble wrap, blankets or towels
and packed "'flat items"
on their edges. For pictures, mirrors
etc, both sides are covered with
bubble wrap and heavy cardboard
and subsequently binded with tape.
Lawn and
Garage Items Packing
Before packing, all gasoline and
oil must be removed from items like
lawn mowers, weed eaters, chain
saws and other equipment and the
batteries must be disconnected.
After tightly securing the lid,
the moving parts must be immobilized.
Long garden tools can be strapped
into a bundle while heavy power
tools are put in a sturdy box and
the empty space is filled with newspaper.
Art and
Antiques Packing
Any item requiring specialist care
such as antiques or paintings are
packed in internal wooden crates,
that are measured exactly to fit
and protect the individual items.
Each piece is individually wrapped
in bubble wrap. The bottom of a
large box is padded with crumpled
newspaper or Styrofoam peanuts and
the items are given plenty of space
in the placement. Lots of packing
material is put on the sides, between
items and on top.
General
Packing
Clubbing a lot of material of similar
type ) in a box not only increases
its protection but also makes the
loading process easier. Each box
must be filled to its capacity(but
it should not bulge at the edges)
and the empty space must be minimum.
Padding to the right extent is the
key to having a successful move
so, put a lot of packing supplies.
A variety boxes and packing material
is available in the market.
The bottom of all boxes must be
reinforced with good quality tape
to make the packing more secure.
Also, the weight of each box should
be kept down to a manageable level.
The extra linens, pillows and stuffed
animals can be packed in garbage
bags and used as cushions or fillers
in the trailer.
All the items that can be disassembled,
should be moved in the disintegrated
state only.
All the valuables and essentials
must be packed separately. |
